I am a large man (400 Lbs) with bad knees and bad back. The Greenspeed Magnum really stood out for me as the trike to buy. What attracted me to the Magnum was a number of things first being the weight limit. The Magnum has the highest weight limit on the market for a recumbent trike. There are some other trike that are built for larger people but just not equal to the Magnum. The second thing that the Magnum offered was the adjustable seat height. I needed the seat all the way up because it is difficult for me to get out of the seat. With the higher seat height than other trike I can get out without any help or to much struggling. Third is the seat just fits my back nicely. The seat is contoured to fit my low back and it uses shock cords with a lot of eyelets for my weight. Other features that I liked were the heavy duty Sturmey Archeer Drum Brakes and heavy duty alloy rims. The Magnum came with Big Apple tires which gives the trike a smoother ride. I did add tires lines to the tires so I would be less likely to get a flat tire. Being I am very large I wanted the strongest wheels I could find. The Magnum came stock with three double wall rims and three twenty inch wheels. I wanted the smaller twenty inch rear wheel because it is quite a bit stronger than the twenty six inch wheels used on other trikes. Another advantage I like about the three twenty inch wheels is that I only have to carry one extra inter tube rather than two. The folding feature of the frame was not important for me beings I drive a pick up truck but would be a nice thing to have if someday I change vehicles to say a sport utility.

I test road this and a few other trikes. I found this one more comfortable. The other trikes were too narrow making it hard to steer. It is higher from the ground, so I can get on and off from it easier. I enjoy longer rides now. I Just got the hang of the shifting.

The Magnum is perfect of larger people. I tried a number of different trike and many seamed to be just two narrow for me. For me the problem was on many trikes when I go to turn the handle bars would not be wide enough and would be hitting my legs. The Magnum is simply a wide trike with adjustable handlebars for width and angle, problem solved. I also appreciated that Greenspeed made and extra large seat on the Magnum for my extra large back side. I like that Greenspeed also use a larger brake to give better stopping as well. All the components are very good quality and I have been very pleased with there performance. The Magnum is made of lightweight aluminum but has a 400 Lbs weight capacity which seams to be the best of both worlds. The Magnum has extra strong double wall rims for extra durability and stainless steel spokes that will not rust. The Magnum can be easily transported by removing the seat with two quick release levers and folding the trike in half. The trike folds easily by using the quick release in the center of the frame and folding the rear of the trike over the front of the trike.
