Had my Grand Tourismo since the beginning of the Pandemic and it was a real life saver. Being my gym was on lock down I really had the opportunity to put quite a few miles on my trike. I like the trke and am happy with my purchase, I feel the trike is well built and have a quality ride. The only thing I though I would have like to seen differed was three chain rinds up front and I would have like the trike to be able to fold in half for transportation.
So I test rode a lot of trike and I mean a lot of trike! I finally purchased a Terratrike Grand Tourismo. The things made the bigest difference to me were the rear wheel size, ride quality and manufacture quality. First was the rear wheel size, I thought I wanted a 26" rear wheel because as you reed on the internet a bigger rear wheel has to be faster because it travels farther on each revelation right? I though a 20" rear wheel has to be a lot slower compared to a 26" wheel for the same reason. I live is a hilly area and I found the 26" rear wheel was just to difficult for me to pedal up hills. I rode some trikes with 20" rear wheel which climbed well but I did not like the derailleur cage being so close to the ground. I found the 24" wheel to be just right balance for the environment I am riding in. There is a big difference in ride quality of different frames. I found the Grand Tourismo frame to be one of the best riding trikes I tested. Some trike with aluminum frame only saved off 1-2 pounds over the Chrome Molly Steel frame of the Grand Tourismo. I rode the Maverick and Trident Spike which have steel frames and you can tell that the ride quality is no where near as good. The standard steel frames also added about and additional two pounds to the trike over a Chrome Molly Frame. The shifting and braking works well and the seat is comfortable and very adjustable. I feel the value on the Grand Tourismo is excellent and I would give it a five out of five stars on value and ride quality.
I have had my Terratrike Grand Tourismo for three month and have been very happy with my purchase. I primarily ride it on rail trails and at metro parks in my area and looking forward to taking it to Florida this winter. How I primarily chose the Grand Tourismo was by ride quality. I started off with testing the Rove and thought it was a bit stiff and just wanted more performance than what I could get from that trike. I next tried the Rambler which was a lot smoother and had more gear to choose from over the Rover. Next I tried the Grand Tourismo and it rode a lot nicer that the Ramble and was noticeably faster. Finally I tried the Sportster which I liked as well. My search was easily narrowed to the last to trikes. I settled on the Grand Tourismo because I felt it offered a smoother ride with its steel frame over the Sportsters aluminum frame. I did like that the Sportster had a 26” rear wheel but I thought I could always upgrade the rear wheel on the Grand Tourismo in the future.
