My husband and I have been cyclists since the 1970's. We took a few years off from cycling due to having my hip replaced a couple of summers ago. I have really wanted a way to get back into cycling but did not want to risk an injury riding my traditional two wheeler. We decided that a recumbent trike was the best option. After reading hours and hours of reviews we settled on a pair of Catrike 5.5.9's. These trikes do everything we could ask for. The 26 inch rear wheel rolls so nice on the pavement and the trike handles phenomenaly. The folding feature really comes in handy and allows us to fit both trikes into our SUV (with a little creativity).

The Catrike Dumont is an awesome trike, this is my third Catrike and I am defiantly a fan of Catrike products. My first was a Villager, I thought I wanted to set up very straight but after riding a while I found this very upright position no to be as good as I had originally thought. My second was the Expedition which was faster and more comfortable than the Villager. My latest trike is the Dumont and it far superior to both my other Catrikes. The biggest advantage to me is the upgrade in ride comfort due to Catrike adding front and rear suspension to the trike. Every bump just got a whole lot smaller feeling with the addition of the suspension. I feel the suspension does not compromise the handling or speed at all and is well worth the added cost. Second I like the padded seat, I feel it does give some extra comfort and the workmanship on the seat fabric is top notch. Third is the folding frame feature. My previous two trikes did not fold and was a major pain to try to break my trike down small enough to fit in my vehicle with our extra luggage. With the folding frame I can fold my trike in half in about thirty seconds and have it load in the back of my SUV. I love everything about Catrike products, Made in USA, awesome paint, components that work well together, I am a Catrike fan for life!

Purchase my Dumont in the spring of 2018 and have been very happy with its performance. The Dumont is lighter that the other trike I tried and I like that it came with the bar end shifter and rear fender. I original thought the seat was way farther back than what I wanted but after riding the trike for a while I adapted the position and the seat angle is fine. The build quality is very good and I really feel that having the suspension was well worth the cost over the 5.5.9
